Lizzie Buckingham

Founding Director

Lizzie did her BA at The Urdang Academy alongside Level 2 Exercise to Movement Instruction before completing her MA at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
As a performer, Lizzie has worked on a huge variety of productions from dance and musical theatre, to actor-musicianship, devised work and classical theatre. Roles have included Kelly Kapowski in Bayside (The Other Palace Theatre), Dick Whittington in Dick Whittington (Hitchin Market Theatre), Antigone in Antigone (AOD), Lily in Oscar (Etcetera Theatre), Myrrhine in Lysistrata (UK Tour), Cassandra in Paris Alexandros (AOD), Joanna in Lost Love (Chelsea Theatre), Scout in The Den (Swan Wharf).


Lizzie has taught extensively in a range of dance and theatre disciplines. She has delivered performing arts programs in the UK and internationally, facilitating dance and performing arts in schools and arts centres and preparing students for large scale performances. Lizzie launched ADC in 2017, to bring dance opportunities to a wider audience. She also runs ADC Stars school of performing arts in North London, and works as a private tutor for both children and adults in a range of styles. Lizzie has had much success with students gaining places on prestigious courses at vocational institutions and achieving highly in recognised qualifications.

Emily Owens

Director

Emily graduated from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in 2014. Since graduating she has worked extensively as a performer and educator throughout London and across the UK.

 

Most recently Emily was in the UK and International tour of Les Miserables, performing in the Ensemble and understudying Madame Thenardier. Other credits include Understudy Soprano in The Tempest (RSC at The Barbican Theatre), Ensemble in Chronicle (Graeae Theatre Company), Sophie in Harmony Park (Tristan Bates Theatre), Eliza/Actor-Musician in Poppies (The Space), Evie in Dying Out Loud (Theatre Royal Stratford East), Pistol in Henry V (The Union Theatre) and Ash in The Den (Swan Wharf). 

For the past 8 years Emily has worked as an acting and singing coach alongside her performing career. She delivers top of the range programs in schools across London as well as workshops and 1-2-1 sessions for her private pupils. Emily prides herself on her pupils fantastic results, which include 100% Merit-Distinction pass rate for all pupils who have taken exams, entry to top drama schools around the world and cast in West End shows and Film debuts. 

As a disabled performer Emily champions diversity in theatre and is so excited to join the ADC team as a Director to create opportunities for people from all walks of life to experience and train in the arts. 

Jessie Waterfield

Director

Jessie began dancing at the age of 3 at Kilburn School of Dance, Northamptonshire. She then went on to train professionally at the Urdang Academy, attaining a First Class BA Hons in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre.

Whilst training she worked towards her Diploma in Dance Instruction and now with the backing of a professional musical theatre agent, Jessie is pursuing her love for dance and musical theatre as both a performer and teacher.

She has appeared in several short films, pantos and fringe productions, most recent roles include Vocalist in Heimatmann (Brighton fringe), Sophie, The Way it is (11:87 Theatre Company), Jo, Lipstick and Scones (Leicester Square Theatre), Lucy, Jekyll and Hyde (Edinburgh Fringe) Betty Banana, The Magic Castle (TIE UK tour). One of the highlights of her career was performing in the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.

Jessie has taught extensively in a range of dance and theatre disciplines, preparing students for showcases, exams and auditions and is thrilled to be joining ADC as a Director. The arts have an enormous impact on our health and wellbeing, society and education. It is vital that opportunities are created to make art accessible to everyone.

Our Teachers

The ADC Directors are supported by a wonderful team of teachers. Our teaching staff are all professional dancers and performers with a huge array of teaching experience and passion for education.
